Glenrothes midwife awarded MBE for services in complementary therapies

13th January 2014

Joan Taylor, a community midwife with NHS Fife, was awarded an MBE for services in complementary therapies.  Joan has worked for the health authority for 41 years and spent many of them as a community midwife.

The 65-year-old has a particular interest in complementary therapies and combines her many years of experience as a midwife with using reflextherapy, massage and aromatherapy to help relieve the pressure symptoms of pregnancy, ease morning sickness and reduce stress for women trying to get pregnant or those caring for a newborn baby.

She said: “I am really overwhelmed and would like to thank those who nominated me for the honour.

“I have known for a wee while and it has been such a difficult secret to keep.”
