A diverse range of complementary therapies at affordable prices was on offer in Shoreham at the official launch of The Human Touch Project.
The autumn wellbeing fayre at the Shoreham Centre last Saturday provided a range of information as well as 20-minute taster therapies.
Project leader Mary Murphy has been given financial support by Lloyds Bank to help people access complementary therapies.
She is one of three new West Sussex entrants to the bank’s social entrepreneurs programme, which provides £4,000 for those enrolling in a start up programme and £15,000 for established social enterprises embarking on a scale up programme.
Alastair Wilson, chief executive of the School for Social Entrepreneurs, said: “Social entrepreneurs are a unique group of people who use innovative approaches to tackle the most pressing issues in society and the package of support provided by this programme gives them a helping hand for the best chance of success in their mission to change the world.”
Mary added: “The support from the school will enable the Human Touch to grow and evolve from its humble beginnings into a social enterprise in our local community providing excellent therapies.”
She started the project in February and moved it to the Shoreham Centre in June but the autumn fayre was the official public launch.
She explained: “The project aims to deliver affordable therapies for all and is fulfilling this aim on a weekly basis. We currently have eight skilled, experienced therapists. We provide 30-minute sessions of a wide variety of complementary therapies for people in our local community and beyond.
“We have a two-tier system of charges. It costs £15 per session or £10 for concessions. Longer sessions are available by appointment.
“We are able to provide therapies at this price because we run an open clinic in a shared space. We use screens to protect the privacy of those receiving massage.”
Iridology, homeopathic remedies and reiki healing are available, as well as healing for pets, by appointment. There is a range of massage options and craniosacral therapy, with more therapies, workshops and meditation classes planned.
Sessions are held at the Shoreham Centre, Pond Road, on Mondays from 6pm to 9pm. Contact Mary on 07796518667 to book.
